Obituary for Alenia Marie Birdsong

Alenia Marie (Long) Birdsong, departed from this earthly life on February 21, 2016, at the age of 89. Marie was born November 28, 1926. She was the daughter of Odis and Mary Long who were longtime residents of the Kellyville area. Marie grew up near Kellyville/Bristow area; lived most of her life in and around Mounds. Marie married Fred L. Birdsong September 1941 and helped raise his three children Loyal, Darvin and Donald along with their additional five children. They were married 41 years until his death. Marie worked outside of the home for a number of years at different restaurants in the Sapulpa-Mounds area before becoming head cook at the Mounds School Cafeteria. She loved her children and was the happiest when caring for her family. Marie is remembered by the community for her quilting and seamstress abilities along with always having fresh baked goods for anyone that stopped by to visit. She loved her home and her community. She has resided in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, for the past three years.
Marie is survived by her three children Freida and David McClellan of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; Larrell and Kim of Ponca City, Howard and Marvina of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Clifford and Wanda of Hudson, Iowa and Jerry and Sheryle of Yukon, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Mom.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Birdsong, and her three step-children.
