Obituary for Annie Lee Fendley

Annie Lee Fendley
Annie Lee Fendley of Leslie, 90, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas.

Annie was born December 1, 1923 to Dennis and Minnie Lee (Ellis) Horn in the Horn home on the mountain.

In the early part of 1930 her family moved to the new house where it stands today adjacent to Hwy 65. In 1942 she moved to Little Rock to attend pharmacy school and was employed by Claude Fendley. She continued to work in the Little Rock pharmacies until her retirement.

Annie enjoyed traveling and family history. Between the 70's and 80's she purchased a part of the old Horn homestead, homesteaded by her great-great grandfather. She looked forward to the four and five generation Horn family reunions and playing hostess to her siblings and other kinfolk held at the homestead during the Fall. Though she lived in the big city, at heart she loved her mountain home and looked forward to her time spent back in Leslie and Marshall. During the summer of 2002 she sold her home in Little Rock and returned to the old Horn homestead, where she resided until such time as health reasons required assisted living.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Leo, William Henry, and Benjamin Franklin Horn; and sisters: Ruby Hoppe, Betty Picken-Hofer and Erma Gene Mitchell.

She is survived by one brother, D.G. and wife Barbara Horn of Sutherlin, OR; ten nieces, five nephews; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 20th at 1:00pm at Hunter Hill Cemetery in Clinton, Arkansas, where Annie will be buried next to her mother.
