Obituary for Cpl. Kevin Wayne Haney

Corporal Kevin Haney, 51, of Guy, ended his watch Monday January 28, 2019. Born November 4, 1967 in Fort Smith to the late Gerald and Sharon Henson Haney, Kevin was a United States Army veteran and retired from the Fort Smith Police Department. Corporal Haney served the FSPD for over 20 years, starting in May of 1994. He retired on Oct. 7, 2014, but his impact continues to be felt in the men and women he influenced along the way, both as a Field Training Officer and an exemplary public servant.
Kevin was also a member of the Formosa Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Police and was a Telecommunications Specialist for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed fishing, caring for his animals, and pontoon rides on the lake in the summer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melissa Brewer Haney, of the home; children Emily Haney of Ft. Smith and Seth Haney of Guy; one brother Bruce Haney of Ft. Smith; a special niece, Shanna Rogers. Kevin is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cynthia Morris.
Visitation will be Saturday February 2, at 1 pm at the Formosa Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 2 pm with Brother Billy Reese officiating.
