Obituary for Jack Leonard Eaton

Jack L. Eaton, 87, Resident of Fairfield Bay, passed away June 9, 2014 He was born November 24, 1927 in Waukomis Oklahoma to the late Everette and Viola Eaton. He attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and at age 16 he joined the Merchant Marines without his parents consent. He also served in the United States Navy as a Yoeman after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Upon returning from the service, he completed his high school education.
On December 21, 1946, Jack and Billie Jean Garritson were united in marriage.
Jack's sales career began at W&W Steel Co. before beginning a 35 years career with Geo. A. Hormel. He was a natural salesman with people skills that led him to the corporate office in Austin MN.
After his retirement in 1988, he moved to Fairfield Bay. Playing golf, volunteering in community work, organizing golf tournaments for the Shriners filled his leisure time.
He was an active member and elder at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, and helped with many church projects. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Billie Jean; son Mike and wife Vickie Eaton of Oklahoma City OK; daughter Pam and husband Bruce McDermott of Oklahoma City OK; son Rick Eaton of Fairfield Bay. Grandsons; Cameron Eaton, Justin and wife Karen Howard of Oklahoma City OK; Jay Howard of Dallas TX, Mac McDermott of Mildenhall AFB, England; Brett and wife Lindsay Eaton of Magnolia, TX; great-grandsons Brice and Blake Howard and Cash Eaton; one sister, Ann Taylor of Oklahoma City OK, his beloved dog Buddy; May nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services will be Saturday June 21. 2014 at 11 am at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bob Hadley officiating.
