Obituary for James Shannon

James Riley Shannon, 73, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away April 15, 2017 at the Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Warren, AR on April 3, 1944 to George and Maude Shannon. James served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion of Fairfield Bay. James was a Christian, a genius, and had a great sense of humor. He was fun-loving and a loving father, grandfather and husband. He loved reading, fishing and spending time at or on the lake. James also was a police officer by profession, his last job was with the Fairfield Bay, Arkansas Police Department.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue Shannon of Fairfield Bay; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Shannon, of Moro Bay, AR; son, Bryan Scott Shannon, of Little Rock, AR; step-sons, Charles Wayne Slaughter of Madisonville, TN and Brandon Lee Slaughter of El Dorado, AR; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his father, George Shannon; mother, Maude Howard Shannon; and brother, Robert Shannon.
A celebration of James's life will be held at Eglantine Church of Christ on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2 pm with Minister John Carey officiating.
