Jimmy's Fix for My Red Chevelle

Jim and I became good friends when I was at the end of my senior year at Freedom High School.  I had a red 1967 SS396 Chevelle with a hot motor that I wanted to make it go faster. I knew Jim could work on cars so I went to visit him.  He said he would help.  That next week I showed up at his place, and we spent the day installing a special high-lift camshaft to make things go faster.  When everything was put back together, my SS396 had that drag racing herky- perky sound that this 18 year old kid was so proud of. And, yes, it did go faster!

From that weekend overhaul, Jim and I met others who needed his mechanical wisdom.  For several years we spent many hours enhancing the performance of street cars.  I guess that was a great teaching experience for me and we had great fun with one another.

Jim loved his family very much.  When his dad passed away (Lester), it really changed him.  He took on the responsibility of running the farm and caring for his mother for many years.

We all get busy with life and we seem to have drifted apart through the years except for an occasional meeting here and there.

Jimmy Dale would do anything for you if you needed help.  He was truly a good friend and neighbor.

I am very sorry for your loss and I care and will be thinking of you. Jerry McAllister
