Martin Harold Nunnery, 76, left this world at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2022. He was born Thursday, July 4, 2022, in Holland, Missouri to the late Aaron and Ethel Wolford Nunnery.
Martin came from a very humble beginning. As the eldest child of sharecroppers, he learned the importance of a hard day’s work from an early age and the sense of pride that comes with it. Martin served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and went on to dedicate 40 years of service in law enforcement, retiring from the Arkansas Highway Police Department in 2008. Even in retirement, he wasn’t ready to hang up his shingle, working another decade as the Safety Coordinator at Marable Transports in Clinton.
Martin served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. In his lifetime, he dedicated forty years to working in law enforcement, everything from beating the streets to working as an officer for the Arkansas Highway Police. Later on, he would go to work for Marable Transport, from whom he is a recent retiree.
He is a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus, Arkansas. Martin is a member of the Nail Benders, going out and volunteering to be part of the teams building new churches. He was a quiet man with a tender and conservative Christian heart and a good sense of humor. He will forever be missed in the minds and hearts of those that knew and loved him. His role is not complete as he has gone on to the promises of the Lord.
