Melva Ingra  King (Holmquest)
Melva Holmqist King, 92, of Fairfield Bay passed away Sunday June 21, 2015. Born August 18, 1922 in Prophetston, IL to the late Anton and Eliza Gussie Griffigh Holmqist, Melva was retired from the United States Navy. While serving through one war and two conflicts, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, Melva's military record was exemplarity. All performance reviews were perfect and she was awarded the Good Conduct Medal 5 times along with the World War II Victory medal and American Campaign Medal. After retirement, Melva was an artist and was a founder of the Artist League of Fairfield Bay along with Jeanie Houmth.
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews; Antone Holmquist of Moscow ID, Vicki Houzenga of Fulton, IL, Belinda Keehner of Clinton, IA, Penny Pichard of Roslindale, MA, Cindy Lamb of Shingletown, CA, Sandy Paul of Roseville CA,Bruce Giebler of Osteen, FL, Fred Giebler and Clifford Giebler of Winter Park, FL, Karen Butler of Morrisville NC, and Lauren Hammons of Ocklawaha, FL.
Melva is also survived by her dear friends Leila Berry, Bonnie Hookman, Charlotte Ryerson, Doris Sexson, Lois Thomason and Shawn Jacka.
Melva is proceeded in death by her parents, and siblings Antone and Willis Holmqist and Fern Gfiebler.
