Merle Leon Hughes, 90, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his residence. Born December 23, 1926 in Lawrenceville, IL to the late Hubert and Daisy Enyart Hughes, Merle was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army. He is also a retired maintenance technician.
Left to cherish Merle's memory are his sons, Richard and wife Laura Hughes of Clinton and Keith Hughes of Lampe. MO; siblings Mary Scott, Melvin Hughes, Shirley Burggett of Lawrenceville, IL., Morris Hughes of Courtland, IL.; grandchildren Brian, Karen, Jennifer, Brent Hughes, Kali Poss; 11 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and other friends.
Merle is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings Mildred Bunyan, Curtis Hughes, Merrill Hughes, and Marvin Hughes.
