Obituary for Myra Johnson

Myra Johnson
Myra Elizabeth (Betty) Riggs Johnson, 59, of Fairfield Bay, AR died Sept. 20, 2014. She was known and well liked in Fairfield Bay, having moved there 8 years ago after the passing of her husband, Usi V. (Johnny) Johnson. Myra grew up in Memphis, attended Hillcrest High School and graduated from Baptist Nursing School. She had a long career as a registered nurse in Memphis as well as Salt Lake City, Dallas and San Diego. She was lovingly referred to by her extended family as “Aunt Myra.”

She was strong-willed and passionate in every aspect of her life. One never failed to understand her position on an issue or relationship. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all that were fortunate enough to have known her. She was a very strong and vocal supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The family asks that those wishing to honor her passing not send flowers but rather make a contribution to the ASPCA, a local Humane Society or No-Kill Animal Rescue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Usi V. (Johnny) Johnson; her parents, Audrey Carlisle Riggs and Myra Frances Wilkins Riggs; and two brothers, Ronny Riggs and Oliver Riggs. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Freda) Noyes of Oak Harbor, WA; and Georgia Dehn of Oshkosh, WI; three brothers David (JoAnn) Riggs of Byhalia, MS; Tommy (Anne) Riggs of Middleton, TN; and Roger (Linda) Riggs of Forrest City, AR; two close sisters in law, Mrs. Oliver (Pamela) Riggs of Forrest City, AR; Shirley Johnson Hawkins of Memphis, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Memorial Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN, on Sat. Oct. 11, 2014 at 11 am.
