Condolences

Condolence From: Robert
Condolence: There are few people in the world who are as important to me as Grandma. I am so very grateful for all of the cherished memories that she has left me with. My life and the lives of so many others are far better in so many ways thanks to her.

Condolence: When I think of Grandma my thoughts go first to her kitchen. I grew up in that kitchen. My first memories were created there. Playing the memory game with a deck of cards, painting matchbox cars with nail polish, sitting and listening to stories, the radio on 24 hours a day, and especially all the meals. The stories I've heard of Grandad bombing it with spray paint or someone getting wax all over the ceiling always made me laugh. We all made fun of the cabinets being every color of green that may have been in stock. There was no mess that could upset her. The marks on the table were not stains, they were memories. That kitchen was always home to me, I practically grew up on that blue stool. And the kitchen didn't matter if it was Cicero or on vacation in Arkansas. After they moved the feeling was the still the same. I realized it wasn't the physical place but the company. I spent countless evenings listening to old stories and new. Going through cardboard boxes of pictures here, plastic bins full there. Drinking hundreds cups of coffee in the morning and soda, then later beer with her in the evenings. Grandma was the most caring, honest, loving, funny person I knew. If I needed a dollar for the pop machine next door she'd pull it from her cigarette case, no problem. There was always giving. If you were hungry you wouldn't be for long. If you were in a bad mood, once you started talking you'd be surprised how you forget your blues. Gathering around those tables, us two or in a crowd of seven or eight, was always the best part of the day. I'm going to miss my Grandma, miss her every day, but I took every opportunity I had to spend as much time as I could so create these memories because nothing that great could last forever. What I wouldn't give for one last phone call....

Condolence From: Dennis Morrison
Condolence: Mom, you have touched so many lives, but none as much as mine. You showed me the right way to do things even when others did not. As a child we had very little and I remember you going without many times so that I might have some silly thing that I wanted but didn't need. You always thought of others and yourself last.
You always made the best of every situation, and made a lot of people happy.

I was glad these last years you had everything you wanted.

You will be missed.

Your Son,
Dennis

Condolence: My heart and thoughts are with everyone. Some of my best childhood memories happened at her and Grandad's house. Breaks my heart I didn't make it sooner to visit. She had the kind of laugh that was contagious and you couldn't help but to laugh with her.
