Obituary for Sylvia Rose Madrid

Sylvia Rose Wilson Madrid, 77, of Fairfield Bay, passed away September 19, 2017. She was born in Norwich, England on November 5, 1939 to William Alfred and Selina Florence Harvey Wilson. Sylvia was a master chef who worked at the Red Lion and Double Tree Hotels. Sylvia was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, who loved cooking, butterflies and hummingbirds. She enjoyed playing the pink diamonds on the slots and was a conservationist. Sylvia enjoyed singing karaoke, loved to bake, enjoyed eating sweets, especially chocolate and enjoyed gardening and was an expert knitter.
Sylvia loved to watch old movies, especially those staring Katherine Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley and Laurel and Hardy. She enjoyed shows on PBS, all nature shows and blue planet. She loved Cosmos with Carl Sagen and anything to do with space exploration. She cherished her family and friends and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She enjoyed traveling with Roy in their beautiful travel trailer, was an impeccable homemaker, loved writing and receiving cards and loved to read, especially biographies.
Left to cherish Sylvia's memory are her husband Roy Madrid of Fairfield Bay, son John Joseph Brassil, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, and daughter Stephanie Marie Brassil of Fairfield Bay. Sylvia is also survived by grandchildren Ariel Elizabeth Brassil of Atlanta, Georgia, Gillian Rose Brassil of Brooklyn, New York, and John Kyle Brassil-Kruger of Cedar Creek, Texas; siblings David Wilson, Irene Chapman and Monica Gadsby all of Norwich, England. Sylvia is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of Norwich, England, her maltese, Cleo and her schnoodle Blacky, who were loved by both parents like they were human children; as well as other friends and family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father William Alfred Wilson; mother Selina Florence Harvey Wilson; and sisters Jessie Wilson and Betty Ali.
Services will be Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinton Funeral Service Chapel with Stephanie Marie Brassil officiating.
