Obituary for Waunda Lucille Lee

Waunda Lucille Lee passed away on December 13, 2022 peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Born in Vancouver, Washington (the “Other Vancouver” she always said). Waunda travelled far and wide. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest where her father, Charles Ladwig, worked in forestry and her mother Hazel Ladwig, was a homemaker and home health aide.

Waunda and her family eventually relocated to Fort Bragg CA. She graduated from high school and married Fred Haas. They had five children, Micheal (deceased), Verna (San Diego), Marilynn (Bee Branch, AR), David (deceased) and Susan (San Diego). The marriage ended in the mid 60’s and she eventually married Donald Gorecke and moved to Searcy County AR. After that marriage ended, she moved to Clinton where she lived happily until the end of her life. She loved the beauty and quiet of the Ozarks and was grateful to have found a place she felt she belonged.

Waunda was a beautiful, multidimensional woman. She loved books and was curious about and interested in the world around her. She was fiercely independent and hardworking. She was a caregiver for many years and was dedicated to her patients.

Waunda is survived by her sister Vernetta Dumond (San Diego), her children Verna, Marilynn, Susan, Kay Salsberry, Heather Gorecke, Janice Haas, Ann Gorecke, Loretta Layman, Stanley Gorecke and Steven Gorecke. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
